Our annual Best Campsite survey aims to help you find the best campsites and focuses only on campsites that are nominated or voted into the "best campsites" sections.

A positive approach to helping you find the UK's best campsites.

Giving campers the opportunity to nominate and vote for the campsites they think are the best campsites in the UK.

There are over 2000 campsites in the UK and our aim is to feature only the top quarter here on 500 Best Campsites.

When we reach our target 500 Best Campsites only the top 500 voted sites will feature in the results pages! Get voting!!!

2011-12 Best Campsite Survey

The 2011-12 Best Campsites survey is now live and runs from March 2011 to the end of February 2012. Now is the time to get votings for noiminated campsites or nominate a campsite if it is not already in the voting. See the voting pages for more information. Voting lists are on a county by county basis to make it easier to find the campsite you want to vote for.

2010-11 Best Campsites Survey

Between March and February each year we our best campsites survey seeks out the best campsites in the UK as nominated and voted for by you. Our 2010-11 Best Campsites survey results have now been published. We are promoting the Best Campsites survey on Facebook and Twitter.  Link up with us on Facebook and Twitter to follow news and updates about the best campsite surveys we carry out each year. 2010-11 was our launch year and the start of our quest to find the best 500 voted campsites.

2010-11 Best Campsites Results

The 2010-11 results saw 56 campsite nominations so at the beginning of 2011-12 we still have 444 campsites to find to make 500 best campsites as voted by you.

Best Campsite in Each County

We will be featuring the "best campsite in each county" of the UK based on the number of votes each campsite gets.  Our aim is to cover every county of the UK but nominations and voting depends on what you vote for so if no campsites are nominated or voted for in any particular county no campsites will be featured here on 500 Best Campsites for that county.

Our aim is to feature the top voted campsite and for larger counties and very popular camping areas up to the 10 best campsites in that county. Popular camping destinations such as Cumbria and the Lake District, Hampshire and the New Forest, Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, East and West Sussex, Derbyshire and the Peak District.

Best Campsites in England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland

Pages featuring the 50 Best Campsites in each of England,  Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland as voted by you.

So finding the top voted campsites by region of the UK will be easy.

Best Coastal Campsites

Our survey is also looking for the 50 best Coastal Campsites being campsites around the coast of Britain. Some of the top voted sites will get special features on a dedicated Coastal Campsites website. Camping around the coast is a very popular camping holiday with the seaside being a top holiday destination. 

National Park Campsites

50 Best Campsites in and around the National Parks of the UK which will be featured on the dedicated National Park Campsites website and here on 500 Best Campsites. 

Small Campsites

25 Best Small Campsites which have 25 or less pitches often as low as 5 pitches. A dedicated website for Small Campsites has also now been launched where we will be featuring the top 25 voted small campsites.

Adult Only Campsites

25 Best Adult Only Campsites to be featured here on 500 Best Campsites and and on the dedicated website aimed at tranquil, quiet campsites that are aimed at adults only.

Qualifying Campsites & Voting

To "qualify as a campsite" in the voting campsites must accept tents. The campsite can also accept touring caravans, motorhomes and RV's or an even be a holiday park but the campsite must accept camping tents to qualify as a camping site to enter the vote.

Getting into the voting: If a campsite has not already been nominated for voting (check the county voting page) you can nominate the campsite, the nomination will be counted as the first vote and we will add the campsite to it's county list as quickly as possible.  Please check a campsite is not already listed for voting before nominating it as this will waste your vote.

Who can nominate? Anyone of the following...

• campers who have used the the campsite

• friends of campers who have used the site and highly recommended it

• the campsite itself or someone on thier behalf
